Volunteering at the Friends’ Hospital Shop
Please note that the Friends’ Shop has been on reduced hours since reopening after the Covid pandemic. We would be delighted to hear from those who would like to volunteer at the Shop/with the Trolley Shop. The more volunteers we have, the more quicker we will be able to return to “business as usual” (see below).
The Friends’ Shop at Savernake Hospital is staffed entirely by volunteers – a team of wonderful people who are committed to providing a first class service to the patients, visitors and staff of Savernake Hospital.
The Shop aims to open weekdays from 9.30am to 3.30pm (but initially from October 2021 the opening times will be shorter). There are three “shifts”:
- 9.30am – 11.45am
- 10.30am – 1.00pm (which includes the Trolley Shop)
- 1.00pm – 3.30pm.
We take the Trolley Shop up onto Ailesbury Ward every weekday morning so the patients can buy newspapers and magazines, confectionery, biscuits and toiletries.
New volunteers – how you can help us
We are always looking for new volunteers who can help us run the Shop and keep it open as much as possible during the week and to run the Trolley Shop on Ailesbury Ward on weekday mornings.
As well as volunteers to work in the Shop, we also need to keep it well stocked and so also need someone who could do the shopping for us. Friends volunteers also help with a variety of fundraising events from car boot sales to cake sales, pop up cafes and raffles. They also turn their hand to carol singing on Ailesbury Ward at Christmas time! Click on our Latest News page for details of some of our recent and forthcoming fundraising events.
Even if you only have an hour to spare, that would still be enough to help.
