The Friends of Savernake Hospital Shop re-opened on 18th October with a special ceremony to mark the return of the popular service, which hasn’t operated since the beginning of 2020 due to the pandemic.
The Shop’s volunteers, as well as some of the staff at the hospital, gathered to watch as co-chairmen of the registered charity, Pat Harper & Janet Louth, cut the ribbon and welcomed the first customer across the threshold in 18 months.
This was Barbara Harrison from Marlborough, who has also been one of the Shop’s most regular customers over the years and works within the hospital. She welcomed its return saying that it had been much missed by the staff and she was delighted that she could again buy her favourite sugar-free sweets!

Co-chairman, Janet Louth said, during the following reception, that many patients often arrive at Savernake without having all the things that they need to make their stay a comfortable one and this is what makes the Shop such a valued service.
If you are visiting patients, attending an outpatient appointment, or you are a member of staff, we have a wide selection of toiletries, confectionery, drinks, biscuits, snacks, greetings cards, paperbacks and just about everything patients on the wards might need during their stay in the hospital. We are open every week day from 10am, so we would be delighted to see you the next time you are at Savernake.
