Friends of Savernake Hospital

The Friends’ trustees have recently approved two grants – one for Pewsey Surgery and another for Savernake Hospital’s Community Nurse Team.

Pewsey Surgery now have a speedy, brand new Doppler machine – essential equipment in the treatment of leg ulcers, as it is used to perform readings on leg arteries to assess circulation, varicose veins and swelling. The surgery’s previous machine – bought in 2000 with an estimated shelf life of 7 years – had kept running for 19 years. However, unavailability of replacement parts meant that a new model was urgently needed. For this, the Friends provided a grant of £1,950.

Meanwhile, a grant of £466 has been approved by the Friends for the Community Nurse Team to enable them to buy a projector for meetings and training for their nurses and therapists. Earlier this year the Friends also provided a grant of over £790 to Pewsey Surgery to assist with the purchase of a new triage couch.
