Registered Charity No. 262732
Friends of Savernake Hospital

New Road Centre in Marlborough is a charity day care provider, looking after vulnerable adults with a range of physical, mental and learning disabilities.

The aim of New Road Centre is to provide a safe haven where their clients can come to an inclusive, friendly environment to socialise, meet friends and feel part of a group. Many are socially isolated and no longer have family. In early 2018, the Friends provided a grant of £450 for the purchase of a replacement PlayStation, controls and games for younger clients, particularly those with autism, who find a real companionship in playing computer games.

“For our clients who find communication difficult, it is great to see how playing a sports game can help them find a connection so that they are able to interact together. This makes them feel socially included and we find that their confidence begins to grow because they are able to join in something, ” explained their chairman, Debbie Bond.
